The XRP Ledger surpassed 1 million AI-driven payments via the x402 protocol as Ripple-backed t54.ai launched a hub for autonomous payment agents.
"The x402 protocol enables AI agents to pay for compute and data services autonomously, creating a new use case for XRPL as machine-to-machine payments scale," the t54.ai team said in the announcement.
XRP traded at $1.12 as of 14:30 UTC, up 8% this week, according to CoinGecko. On-chain activity on XRPL jumped 72% over the past month, while US spot XRP exchange-traded funds recorded eight consecutive weeks of net inflows, data from the network and fund issuers show. The token remains 69% below its yearly high.
The milestone positions XRPL as a leading settlement layer for the emerging AI agent economy, where autonomous software programs execute payments without human intervention. With t54.ai's new hub providing developer tooling and payment infrastructure, the network could see accelerated adoption as enterprise users deploy automated payment streams on XRPL.
