Strategy's 840,447 BTC treasury returned to a $1.4 billion unrealized profit as Bitcoin rallied 22% in five sessions, lifting MSTR shares 6% to $120, their highest level in two months.
Bitcoin traded at $77,885 as of 14:30 UTC, up 8.8% over 24 hours with $67.2 billion in volume, according to CoinGecko data. The advance briefly pushed BTC toward $80,000 before consolidating, marking the strongest multi-day run since the asset's October peak.
The swing reverses a $13 billion paper loss from July, when Bitcoin fell to $58,000 and Strategy's position sat 20.4% below its cost basis. During the downturn, the company sold 6,916 BTC while prices held in the low-to-mid-$60,000 range and built its dollar reserve to $4.8 billion, covering roughly 2.8 years of dividend obligations. The treasury plan now permits Bitcoin sales to fund reserves, dividends and security repurchases rather than treating the asset as strictly buy-and-hold.
Management has also deployed $347 million over four weeks repurchasing STRC perpetual preferred stock, more than a third of its $1 billion authorization. STRC recovered to $95.62 from a June low near $71, while SATA, Strive Asset Management's comparable preferred security, briefly touched its $100 par value Thursday for the first time in two months.
MSTR clears $105 resistance as momentum builds
The recovery has been rapid. Bitcoin's five-day advance of nearly 22% erased months of weakness that had pushed the asset down roughly 54% from its October all-time high of $126,000. MSTR shares extended Thursday's 7.81% gain in premarket trading, clearing the $105 resistance level that had rejected four separate attempts since July.
For MSTR investors, Bitcoin remains the dominant variable. The 100-day EMA at $122.16 is the immediate test at current levels, with the 200-day EMA at $157 as the next major target above, according to Benzinga technical analysis. The relative strength index sits at 61.84, climbing sharply as momentum builds.
The turnaround also strengthens Strategy's balance-sheet narrative. The $4.8 billion dollar reserve provides a cushion for dividends and obligations regardless of near-term price swings, while the STRC buyback program continues to accelerate weekly, according to company disclosures. Purchases under the program have increased each week since the authorization was announced.
The broader digital credit market is recovering alongside Bitcoin. SATA's return to par value Thursday marked the first time the Strive Asset Management preferred security reached $100 in two months, suggesting improving confidence across the sector. For Strategy, the combination of a profitable BTC position, a growing dollar reserve, and preferred-stock buybacks paints a stronger financial picture heading into the weekend.
