A 300 million-token accumulation by large XRP holders helped drive the cryptocurrency more than 25 percent higher to $1.37 in a market rebound, on-chain data show.
"Whales have accumulated more than 300 million XRP over a 96-hour period," Ali Martinez, a crypto analyst who tracks large-wallet flows, said on X. At prices near $1.38, the purchases represented about $414 million, though the value varied with the timing of each transaction.
The buying followed months of comparatively quiet accumulation. CryptoQuant data show average XRP spot order sizes have held in a range associated with large investors, indicating bigger participants kept building positions before the breakout. Derivatives activity also picked up as the token advanced, with open interest on Binance reaching about $461.3 million, its highest in roughly two months, CryptoQuant reported. Santiment said XRP network activity climbed to its strongest level in more than two months after falling close to yearly lows.
The move above $1 restored bullish momentum after XRP spent considerable time below that threshold. XRP traded at $1.368 at press time, up 1.80 percent over 24 hours, with weekly gains approaching 38 percent. The token traded relatively flat on Monday after its sharp rally.
The accumulation pattern matters because it arrived alongside rapid price appreciation rather than after an extended decline, a sign large holders are adding exposure into strength. Rising open interest points to more capital entering the derivatives market as traders position around the move, extending the on-chain signals that preceded the breakout.
XRP's leadership in the rebound has drawn attention to the broader altcoin complex, where tokens have recovered as risk appetite returns to digital assets. The token's advance outpaced much of the market during the recovery, reinforcing its role as a bellwether for speculative demand in the sector.
Analysts have turned increasingly optimistic. Javon Marks argued the breakout could open the door to a much larger advance, while Crypto Patel called a long-term move toward $10-$20 realistic given XRP's fast transactions and low fees, though such targets remain speculative and would require XRP to clear future resistance levels.
Sustained whale demand will determine whether the token holds above $1.37 or gives back gains toward the $1.30 area in the sessions ahead. A pullback toward that support would test whether the accumulation reflects durable conviction or a short-term positioning trade.
