Crypto infrastructure company StarkWare is restructuring into two distinct units and reducing staff as it pivots to focus on revenue generation, CEO Eli Ben-Sasson said.
"We are moving to a more agile, execution-focused structure," Ben-Sasson said in a statement regarding the reorganization.
The restructuring divides the company into two main divisions, though specific details on the number of employees affected were not yet disclosed. This move follows a period of significant growth for the Starknet ecosystem, a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum developed by StarkWare.
The reorganization presents a critical juncture for StarkWare. While the pivot to a revenue-focused model could establish a more sustainable business long-term, the immediate layoffs and structural changes risk disrupting developer confidence and momentum within the Starknet ecosystem, which includes projects like the decentralized exchange StarkEx and the ZK-rollup Starknet.
