Porsche AG reported H1 operating profit of €1.35 billion, up 34%, and confirmed its 2026 guidance as restructuring measures began to pay off.
"The financial figures for the first half of the year are in line with our expectations," Chief Financial Officer Jochen Breckner said, citing rigorous cost management and the shift toward higher-margin vehicles.
The luxury carmaker, majority-owned by Volkswagen AG, is targeting a comprehensive overhaul as it faces billions in US tariff charges, intensifying competition from Chinese automakers and rising cost pressures in Germany. A new package of job cuts brings the total to about 9,000, or one in five positions, which Breckner said will burden results by a three-digit-million euro amount in the second half.
The guidance confirmation provides reassurance to investors as Porsche navigates a challenging environment. The company plans to invest in new gas-powered and hybrid models while reducing the number of model variants, prioritizing profitability over volume growth.
Chief Executive Michael Leiters, who took over at the start of the year, said the company had worked intensively on strategy but warned "we still have a lot of work ahead of us." Porsche did not disclose revenue or earnings per share figures for the period, nor did it provide a consensus comparison.
The Stuttgart-based automaker's turnaround comes as parent Volkswagen pursues its own cost-cutting drive, with Chief Executive Oliver Blume threatening as many as 50,000 additional job cuts across the group. Porsche's shift toward pricier models mirrors a broader industry trend, with luxury peers such as Mercedes-Benz also recalibrating strategies to protect margins amid tariff uncertainty and slowing demand in China.
The guidance confirmation signals that management sees its restructuring bearing fruit, even as the full cost of job cuts will hit in the second half. Investors will watch Porsche's next quarterly update for delivery numbers and margin trends as the company executes its profitability-first strategy.
