Paradigm Intelligence (范式智能) plans to raise approximately HK$1.57 billion ($201 million) by placing up to 38.8 million new shares with at least six independent investors.
The terms were disclosed in a filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on Monday, April 22.
The company entered into an agreement with a placing agent to sell the shares at HK$40.36 apiece. The placees and their ultimate beneficial owners will be independent third parties, according to the filing.
The capital raise could lead to short-term share price dilution for existing shareholders due to the increased number of shares. The long-term market reaction will likely depend on how the company allocates the new funds, whether for growth initiatives or for servicing debt and operational costs.
The placement highlights the company's need for fresh capital. Investors will be watching for further disclosures on the specific use of the proceeds to gauge the potential for future growth. The completion of the placement will be a key event to monitor.
