Decentralized exchange PancakeSwap X has listed perpetual contracts for more than 60 tokenized real-world assets on BNB Chain, allowing traders to gain leveraged exposure to major stocks like Apple and NVIDIA using crypto collateral.
The new products are perpetual contracts that track stock prices, not tokenized shares granting equity ownership. "In that case, for example, you won’t really have voting rights, but you will still have all the benefit in terms of cash if the company is going up in price," Johann Kerbrat, Robinhood’s head of crypto, said in a recent podcast discussing similar structures. This means traders do not receive dividends or voting rights.
Data from the platform shows the tokenized tracker for NVIDIA (NVDAx) recorded roughly $6.9 million in 24-hour trading volume shortly after launch. The contracts, which are available only during US market hours, allow traders to use up to 25x leverage. While PancakeSwap offers other crypto perpetuals on networks like Arbitrum and Ethereum, the RWA-based products are exclusive to BNB Chain.
The move deepens the connection between decentralized finance and traditional markets, giving DeFi users a way to trade proxies of Wall Street assets without leaving the crypto ecosystem. For BNB Chain, the exclusive listings create a distinct use case that appears to be driving significant volume, strengthening the network’s position in the growing RWA sector.
A Different Model of Exposure
The financial products market-linked to private or public companies is diverse, and the structure matters more than the label. Unlike private shares or special purpose vehicles (SPVs) that may represent a claim on actual equity, the PancakeSwap X offering is a derivative product. Users are betting on price movements, similar to a futures contract.
This contrasts with other models, such as tokenized funds like the Destiny Tech100 (DXYZ) fund, which holds private company shares in its portfolio, or pre-IPO tokens that may have different settlement terms. The PancakeSwap X model offers pure price exposure, making it a tool for speculation rather than a path to ownership.
