MSTR Climbs 6% Despite $3.35B Unrealized Bitcoin Loss
Following the announcement, MicroStrategy's stock (MSTR) climbed 6% to around $145 in pre-market trading as Bitcoin's price rose 2.6% to nearly $73,600. The purchase increased the company's total Bitcoin treasury to 761,068 BTC. However, the firm's aggressive buying has resulted in an average acquisition cost of $75,696 per coin across its entire holdings. Based on its total investment of $57.61 billion, MicroStrategy currently holds an unrealized loss of approximately $3.35 billion, highlighting the significant financial risk tied to its corporate strategy.
Bitcoin's $72,500 Support Remains Key for MSTR's Outlook
MicroStrategy's stock performance remains tightly coupled to Bitcoin's price action. Analysts identify the $72,500 level as critical support for Bitcoin; holding above this zone could create a path toward price targets of $80,000 and potentially $100,000. For MSTR stock specifically, traders are watching for a decisive break above resistance at $150, which could signal further upside toward $160. Conversely, a drop below the $140 support level could trigger a decline toward $135. The strategy's success hinges on Bitcoin sustaining its upward momentum, as a fall below $70,000 would apply significant pressure to both the cryptocurrency and MSTR's share price.
