Magic Eden will permanently shut down its native wallet on May 1, 2026, giving users a one-month window to export their private keys before all data is made irretrievable.
"The wallet will enter an export-only mode on April 1, 2026, allowing users only to export private keys or seed phrases," Magic Eden announced in a statement. The company confirmed that after the May 1 shutdown, keys will become permanently inaccessible.
The move follows the marketplace's decision to discontinue its Bitcoin API and phase out support for its native Ethereum and Bitcoin wallets, which took effect on March 27. This action effectively ends Magic Eden's direct involvement in native wallet services across all chains it supports, including Solana.
The decision will force the wallet's entire user base to migrate to third-party solutions like Phantom or Solflare before the deadline, creating significant friction. The move suggests a strategic pivot for Magic Eden to concentrate resources on its core NFT marketplace functionalities, ceding the wallet infrastructure layer to specialized providers.
