Hitachi Digital Services, a global systems integrator, and financial services firm Stripe are partnering to deliver a unified payment solution aimed at replacing the complex, multi-vendor systems used by large enterprises. The collaboration will combine Hitachi’s AI and engineering expertise with Stripe’s payment infrastructure to create a single, streamlined platform for payments, risk management, and reporting, initially targeting the insurance industry.
"Payments matter. They are a critical component to the customer experience and business health as a small improvement in process can yield significant value," said Rajashekar Busani, Chief Operations Officer at Hitachi Digital Services. "By partnering with Stripe, we’re transforming static, cumbersome payment capabilities to be intelligent dynamic assets—creating a seamless, frictionless process that improves conversion rates, reduces complexity, and enhances customer satisfaction."
The partnership will be highlighted at a joint industry event on April 30, 2026, in London, featuring leaders from Visa, Mastercard, Hastings Direct, and Markerstudy. The collaboration addresses inefficiencies in enterprise payment systems, where organizations often manage numerous vendors for different functions, leading to operational complexity and security vulnerabilities. Stripe, which processes over $1.9 trillion in payments annually—equivalent to 1.6% of global GDP—provides the foundational infrastructure for the joint offering.
The new solution aims to consolidate payment gateways, risk management, authorization, and reporting into one infrastructure, reducing the number of third-party relationships and giving organizations greater control over transactions. This is particularly relevant as industries undergo digital transformation and adopt AI-powered commerce, which demands more secure and scalable payment systems.
Simplifying a Complex Ecosystem
Traditionally, enterprises have juggled multiple vendors for payment processing, creating fragmented customer experiences and integration challenges. This joint approach from Hitachi and Stripe offers a consolidated alternative that still allows organizations to use their preferred CRM, PAS, and ERP systems, aiming to improve reliability and cost management.
Engineering-Led Innovation
Both Hitachi and Stripe emphasize their shared engineering background as a key differentiator, focusing on building and integrating solutions with modern, modular architectures. This approach is designed to create a scalable foundation for future innovations. While the initial focus is on the insurance sector, the partnership is structured to expand into other verticals, including retail, hospitality, and transportation.
"This event is an opportunity to bring together some of the most influential voices in payments and insurance to discuss the industry’s future," said Stewart Reeder, Head of Insurance at Hitachi Digital Services. "Hyper-efficient payments systems hold untapped potential that we intend to help insurance leaders unlock."
