Crypto.com CEO Secures AI.com for $70M
Kris Marszalek, the co-founder and CEO of Crypto.com, has acquired the AI.com domain for a reported $70 million. This strategic purchase positions him at the helm of a new venture in the artificial intelligence space while he continues to lead the cryptocurrency exchange. The new company is set for a high-profile launch, timed with a commercial during Super Bowl Sunday. According to the deal's broker cited by The Financial Times, the $70 million transaction comes after the domain was previously listed with an asking price of $100 million.
Marszalek Replicates $700M Crypto Playbook for AI
This high-stakes acquisition follows a familiar pattern of aggressive, brand-focused marketing employed by Marszalek. In 2021, Crypto.com committed to a $700 million, multi-decade deal to rename the Staples Center to the "Crypto.com Arena," establishing mainstream visibility. This approach echoes the company's origins, when it acquired the Crypto.com domain for an estimated $5 to $10 million to pivot from its former name, Monaco. By securing a premium two-letter domain representing a major technological category, Marszalek is betting he can replicate the success that grew Crypto.com to over 150 million users.
We will make this [AI.com] work one way or another.

New Venture Aims for Decentralized Agent Network
The new platform, AI.com, aims to move beyond simple chatbots by allowing users to generate private, personal AI agents. According to the company, these agents will be capable of executing tasks on a user's behalf, such as sending messages, building projects, and trading stocks, all within a secure, encrypted environment. Marszalek's vision is to create "a decentralized network of billions of agents who self-improve and share these improvements," with the ultimate goal of accelerating the arrival of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). Despite receiving interest from potential buyers for the domain, Marszalek believes owning AI.com is critical for building the brand and establishing customer trust.
