Aris Mining Corporation (TSX: ARIS) announced a key construction milestone at its Marmato gold mine in Colombia, connecting a new surface decline with existing underground development for the 5,000 tonne per day expansion project.
"This breakthrough marks an important step in the Marmato expansion project, establishing continuous underground access from surface, where the new 5,000 tonne per day CIP plant is under construction," the company said in a statement on April 17, 2026.
The Marmato expansion is a core component of the company's goal to nearly double its output to approximately 500,000 ounces of gold annually. The company's Segovia and Marmato mines produced a combined 257,000 ounces in 2025. First gold from the new Marmato plant is anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The milestone helps de-risk the project's timeline, which is critical for Aris Mining to achieve its longer-term objective of 1 million ounces of annual gold production. The company is also advancing its Soto Norte project in Colombia, with environmental studies expected for submission in the second quarter of 2026, and a construction decision for its Toroparu project in Guyana is slated for early 2027.
