Key Takeaways: A $40 trillion dollar collapse warning from BlackRock has reinforced Bitcoin and gold as hedges, with BTC holding near $78,000.

Bitcoin held near $78,024 on Aug. 30 as BlackRock's $40 trillion dollar collapse warning reinforced safe-haven demand for BTC and gold.
The warning follows a week in which Bitcoin's realized capitalization rose by more than $4.6 billion, the strongest short-term move since the bear market began, according to Darkfost, a contributor at CryptoQuant.
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded roughly $2.57 billion in net inflows across seven positive sessions through Aug. 25, with BlackRock's IBIT contributing $284.4 million of the $314.3 million added that day, per Farside Investors data. The streak extended to nine sessions before a $201.9 million outflow on Aug. 28 ended it.
The dollar's decline, tied to Treasury plans to expand long-duration bond buybacks, has revived the flight-to-safety trade. Bitcoin's next test sits at $83,000, where analyst Crypto Patel sees invalidation of his bearish scenario, with downside targets between $50,000 and $55,000 if liquidity dries up.
The Treasury's bond buyback initiative, which began driving a market-wide rally on Aug. 19, has weakened the dollar and pushed investors toward assets perceived as inflation-resistant. Galaxy Research data shows Bitcoin posted its largest weekly dollar gain on record in the week ending Aug. 23, rising 23.5 percent to $14,775, driven by short squeezes, gamma positioning, and momentum buying.
The 30-day growth rate of Bitcoin's realized capitalization stands at just 0.4 percent, suggesting the liquidity improvement is not yet confirmed. Ki Young Ju, CEO of CryptoQuant, previously noted that Bitcoin's realized cap grew $467 billion over two years without equivalent price gains, implying larger capital inflows may be needed for another parabolic advance.
Crypto Patel, a market analyst, identifies $83,000 as the invalidation point for his bearish scenario. Unless there's a convincing close above that level on a longer timeframe, he expects relief rallies to face distribution. His primary downside target remains between $50,000 and $55,000 if liquidity dries up.
On the downside, $78,000 is the immediate support level. A break below could accelerate selling toward the $70,000 area. The bullish case requires Bitcoin to defend $78,000, reclaim $81,000, and close above $83,000.
BlackRock's endorsement of Bitcoin and gold as hedges against dollar collapse could accelerate institutional flows into both assets. With Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's speech scheduled and Treasury buybacks ongoing, the next few weeks will test whether the dollar's weakness is structural or temporary.
