Bitcoin absorbed $1.26 billion in net selling over two weeks without breaking $76,000 — a test of whether the market's new institutional depth can hold.

Bitcoin held at $76,000 as $1.26 billion in net selling from whales and ETF redemptions failed to break support, according to on-chain data.
On-chain analytics firm CryptoQuant identified the sellers as predominantly shorter-term whale wallets, with distribution routed through broker and over-the-counter desks rather than open-market exchange orders.
BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) saw a dark-pool block sale of approximately $1.26 billion covering 29.2 million shares. US spot Bitcoin ETFs logged net outflows for 9 to 12 consecutive trading days in late May, with daily redemptions regularly reaching hundreds of millions of dollars.
The $76,000 level now faces a two-sided test: sustained ETF redemptions could eventually overwhelm buy-side demand, while corporate treasury purchases — including continued acquisitions by MicroStrategy — have so far absorbed the selling pressure.
The selling was not uniform. CryptoQuant's data showed distribution came primarily from shorter-term whale wallets rather than widespread capitulation among the broader holder base. A significant portion bypassed public order books entirely — OTC desks matched large buyers with large sellers directly, keeping large blocks from triggering cascading sell-offs on exchanges.
Corporate treasury buying stepped in as a major counterweight. MicroStrategy continued making significant acquisitions during the period, and sporadic ETF inflows on some days partially offset the redemption trend.
What breaks the $76K floor
The consecutive days of ETF outflows deserve continued attention. While the price held this time, sustained redemptions from spot Bitcoin ETFs could eventually overwhelm the buy-side demand keeping things stable. If the corporate treasury bid slows, there is less to absorb the selling.
The resilience also reflects a structural shift. A $1.26 billion sell-off that would have triggered a double-digit correction a couple of years ago now barely moved the price. That maturity is visible in the market's plumbing: OTC desks, dark pools, and institutional treasury programs have created absorption channels that did not exist in prior cycles.
The expansion of Bitcoin treasury exposure is also broadening. Bitfinex Securities this week listed tokenized versions of Strategy, Metaplanet, and other Bitcoin treasury company stocks on its regulated platform, giving investors new secondary-market routes to the sector.
For traders tracking Bitcoin's next move, the key signals are ETF flow data, corporate treasury announcements, and on-chain whale movements through firms like CryptoQuant — not four-hour chart patterns. The $76,000 support held this time, but the outflow trend bears watching.
