US spot Bitcoin ETFs drew $730.9 million on Thursday, the largest daily intake since January, lifting Bitcoin back above $80,000.
The haul caps a volatile stretch in which the funds swung from a $236.5 million outflow on Tuesday — their biggest single-day exit since July 31 — to a $101.15 million inflow a day later, per SoSoValue data. BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) led the rebound, pulling in more than the day's entire net total, while Grayscale's original GBTC fund still bled $56.21 million. CryptoQuant analysts cautioned that fresh demand remains weak, warning the durability of the rally hinges on Bitcoin clearing $83,000, the on-chain data provider said.
The category has absorbed $3.52 billion in August, its best month of 2026, a run that included a $606 million single-day haul in mid-August, the biggest since May. Cumulative inflows now sit near $54.7 billion since the funds launched in January 2024, with total net assets across the group at $97.22 billion. The money concentrated in Bitcoin rather than spreading across digital assets — spot Ethereum, XRP and Solana ETFs all posted outflows over the same stretch — a pattern pointing to capital consolidating into the largest token rather than broad crypto buying.
The $83,000 level now looms as the next test. Clearing it could pull in fresh momentum, while a rejection would expose how much of the advance rests on ETF buying rather than organic demand. September has historically been a soft month, with Bitcoin closing lower in eight of the past 13 years, and the Federal Reserve's rate decision lands Sept. 15-16 after hawkish signals from Chair Kevin Warsh pushed September rate-hike odds above 60 percent on CME FedWatch.
That concentration cuts both ways. ETF purchases provide direct, verifiable buying pressure that has carried Bitcoin from its recent lows, but CryptoQuant's warning suggests the advance has yet to attract the broad fresh demand that would make it self-sustaining. If flows stall, the $80,000 reclaim could prove shallow; if they persist, the path to $83,000 shortens.
Kraken economist Thomas Perfumo framed the $80,000 recapture as a marker that tends to reset sentiment across digital assets, and whether sustained trading above that level translates into renewed ETF inflows and fresh corporate treasury allocations will determine if the rally reaches $83,000. For now, the flow data is the signal to watch: Thursday's pace, if repeated, would put the resistance test within reach this month.
