This theme owns nuclear power at the moment demand returned, driven by data centres that need large, constant, carbon-free electricity which renewables cannot supply on their own. It covers the full fuel cycle. Fuel: Cameco mines uranium and owns 49% of Westinghouse, while Centrus is the only US producer of the enriched HALEU that next-generation reactors require. Generation: Talen runs the Susquehanna plant and sells its output to Amazon under a seventeen-year contract. Engineering: BWX Technologies builds naval and commercial reactors and is profitable today. Small modular reactors: X-energy already earns revenue from reactor fuel, while Oklo is the high-risk, high-upside developer. Uranium Energy adds direct exposure to the uranium price. What drives it: data-centre power contracts, government funding and the uranium price. The main risk is timing — most SMR revenue arrives after 2028, and licensing delays are the norm rather than the exception.
