A memecoin launchpad's native asset reached a fresh peak on Sept. 4, gaining 40 percent in one session after the largest decentralized exchange on Ethereum acquired a position in the project.
"Until UNI claims a clean break past resistance, I remain cautious and would prefer to wait for clearer direction," Anton Kharitonov, analyst at Traders Union, said. He noted that Uniswap's PONS acquisition shows strategic intent even though deal terms have not been disclosed.
The latest record extends a run that has lifted PONS more than 1,700 percent in two weeks and 2,700 percent in one month, according to CryptoPotato. Uniswap, the largest decentralized exchange by trading volume on Ethereum, has not disclosed the size or terms of its PONS position. The acquisition expands Uniswap's exposure to community-driven DeFi and memecoin projects, per Fxstreet.
The deal coincides with Uniswap's expansion of its v4 hook library, adding automated liquidity management tools that give developers more flexibility in customizing pool behavior, as reported by Bitcoinist. The infrastructure upgrades and the PONS stake together reflect the protocol's push to broaden its footprint beyond core DEX operations.
UNI, Uniswap's governance token, rose 10.85 percent to $6.325 on the day, holding above its 20-day and 50-day moving averages. The token faces resistance at $6.8084, with a 62 percent probability of upward continuation in the next session, according to Traders Union's proprietary model. Immediate support sits at the Ichimoku Kijun level of $6.0745.
The parabolic move in PONS carries elevated risk of a sharp reversal. With the token up more than 2,700 percent in a month, profit-taking pressure could intensify if momentum stalls. Uniswap's stake provides protocol-level backing, but the extreme valuation run means the next move could be violent in either direction as traders weigh the sustainability of the rally against the speculative demand that has driven it.
