Pi Network is approaching the largest supply event in its history, with 775.8 million PI tokens scheduled to unlock by the end of 2026, a wave that could determine whether the token holds above key support or enters a deeper correction.
Pi Network is entering a major supply transition, with around 775.8 million PI tokens expected to unlock by the end of 2026, according to data from PiScan. The unlocks are based on claimable balances, including user-locked tokens and tokens distributed by the Pi Core Team. The total locked supply currently stands at 6.17 billion PI.
"Higher prices could increase the dollar value of future unlocks, which may encourage some holders to sell," Travladd, a crypto analyst, said on X. He estimates that around $505 million worth of PI could unlock between now and June 2029, including approximately $171 million over the next 12 months.
Over the next 30 days alone, 127.5 million PI tokens worth an estimated $10.5 million will become claimable, PiScan data shows. The average daily unlock rate sits at 4.25 million PI, with the highest single-day unlock in the tracked period reaching 103 million PI. The unlock schedule may shift as more balances become claimable, PiScan noted.
The supply pressure arrives alongside Pi Network's Protocol v25 upgrade, deployed in July 2026, which adds privacy-preserving smart-contract functionality. The upgrade strengthens the network's infrastructure but also creates a direct tension: if ecosystem usage expands, the market may absorb unlocked PI more easily. If demand remains weak, the scheduled releases could continue to weigh on price.
Key Levels to Watch
Trader Ography identified the $0.075 to $0.078 zone as the key support area for the next 30 days, coinciding with the 127.5 million PI unlock window. If buyers continue defending this level, sentiment could stabilize. A breakdown below this area could increase selling pressure and lead to higher volatility, according to the analysis.
Crypto With Gopal noted that PI is forming a rising wedge pattern after recovering from recent lows of $0.0751, with buyers defending support at $0.07. A breakout above $0.0834 resistance with stronger trading volume could improve the short-term outlook, he said on X.
Supply vs. Utility
The 775.8 million unlock represents roughly 12.6% of the currently locked supply of 6.17 billion PI. Token unlocks increase circulating supply, and if new supply enters the market faster than demand grows, prices can face additional pressure. However, unlocks do not automatically mean immediate selling, as some users may continue holding, locking, or using PI within the ecosystem.
The outcome hinges on whether Pi Network's Protocol v25 upgrade and broader ecosystem development can generate enough demand to absorb the incoming supply. With the first major unlock tranche arriving within 30 days, the next several weeks will provide an early signal of market absorption capacity.
