Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson says the network will "win this fight" as ADA gains 26% in a week, while proposing direct engineering collaboration with Ethereum developers.
ADA gained 26% in a week as Hoskinson said Cardano will "win this fight" and proposed Ethereum collaboration within months.
"Don't bet against me, we're gonna win this fight," Hoskinson said during an interview on The Breakdown with David Gokhshtein, responding to questions about the network's ability to recover and compete going forward.
The comments come as criticism of Cardano's ecosystem has intensified following ADA's sharp decline from previous market highs, ongoing governance disputes, and struggles affecting some ecosystem projects. ARK Invest's Lorenzo Valente previously questioned why the industry continues to reward the network, writing on X: "No serious industry keeps rewarding irrelevance like this."
Hoskinson pointed to concrete development work underway, including Ouroboros Leios, which aims to significantly increase Cardano's transaction-processing capacity, and Hydra, a Layer-2 initiative designed to support faster transactions as the network competes with Ethereum and Solana on scalability and adoption.
After years of rivalry, Hoskinson said Cardano and Ethereum developers should work together, urging Ethereum's development community to explore Cardano's UTXO-based technology, which changes how transactions and smart contracts are processed. He described the potential cooperation as a straightforward academic and engineering collaboration requiring no transfer of money or apologies over past disputes.
"…it's not like we would just be like no we don't want to work with you. We'd be actually that's great for both ecosystems. This is a natural easy academic and engineering collaboration which requires no transfer of money, no apologies, just an acknowledgement and just a desire to work together," Hoskinson said.
The comments come as debate over Ethereum's interest in UTXO-based designs has grown. In July, an Ethereum researcher published a proposal exploring native UTXO-style payment designs, drawing attention from the Cardano community because some concepts resemble design principles Cardano has already implemented through its Extended UTXO (EUTXO) architecture. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin credited Bitcoin for inspiring the exploration rather than directly acknowledging Cardano's work, which Hoskinson initially criticized.
For Cardano, such cooperation could give its technology a much larger stage and help connect more closely with Ethereum, showing that ideas developed within its ecosystem can have value beyond ADA's price. Hoskinson also noted that integration would make it easier for developers to work across Cardano-related projects, including Midnight.
ADA's price performance offered some support for his optimism, with the altcoin gaining roughly 26% over the last week, according to BeInCrypto data. Hoskinson has previously stated his ambition for ADA to eventually become the largest crypto by market cap.
