DeFi Development Corp. (Nasdaq: DFDV) resumed Solana accumulation on Aug. 27, purchasing approximately 19,000 SOL at an average price of $98.14.
"DFDV is designed to provide investors with leveraged exposure to Solana, and we believe the recent trading activity demonstrates that investors increasingly understand that value proposition," Joseph Onorati, chief executive officer of DeFi Development Corp., said.
The purchase brings the company's treasury to approximately 2,333,432 SOL and SOL equivalents, partially funded through proceeds from the divestment of its ZeroStack position. The newly acquired SOL will be held as a long-term treasury asset and deployed through the company's staking and onchain treasury infrastructure. Quarter-to-date, SOL has outperformed the Nasdaq-100 by 33 percent, while DFDV has outperformed SOL by 1.8x over the same period. Month-to-date, DFDV's return has been more than twice that of SOL.
For the week ended Aug. 21, DFDV ranked among the most actively traded publicly listed SOL digital asset treasury companies, leading the category in trading volume as a percentage of market capitalization and generating the highest absolute dollar trading volume on multiple days. The company expects the newly acquired SOL to contribute additional staking and onchain revenue as it is deployed across DFDV's treasury infrastructure.
DFDV operates its own validator infrastructure on Solana, generating staking rewards and fees from delegated stake. The company also participates in decentralized finance opportunities on the network. Recent insider activity showed net buying, with 34,069 shares purchased and zero sold, according to company filings.
The company's treasury strategy places it among a growing group of publicly listed firms holding digital assets as reserve holdings. DFDV's equity has outperformed SOL by 1.8x quarter-to-date, reflecting the leveraged structure of its shares relative to its SOL holdings. The company also operates an AI-powered platform serving the commercial real estate industry, offering software subscriptions to multifamily and commercial property professionals.
The resumption of SOL purchases follows a period of active accumulation that was paused, with the company now returning to its treasury-building strategy as market conditions improve. The divestment of its ZeroStack position provided partial funding for the new acquisition, allowing DFDV to rotate capital into its core SOL holdings. The company's staking and onchain infrastructure is expected to generate additional organic yield from the newly acquired tokens, adding to the revenue streams DFDV already derives from its validator operations.
The purchase reflects continued corporate demand for SOL as a treasury asset, a trend that has gained momentum as more publicly listed companies adopt digital asset reserve strategies. DFDV's ability to outperform SOL by 1.8x quarter-to-date demonstrates the potential for equity structures to provide leveraged exposure to crypto assets, which could attract further corporate interest in similar treasury models.
